after days of endless reading, whining, writing & surfing the web, i've mved on to an activity i havent done for so long.

i made art.

i drew, i painted, i textured, i shadowed, i rendered, i cut, i pasted.

i was never as good with the pen as i am with the painbrush. there is nothing more exhilirating with removing the seal and opening a fresh new tub of paint, dipping a fresh clean brush into it and carefully sliding the brush across a blank piece of paper, creating subtle textures along the way.

i love it how art allows me to dream and never lets me down. Because at the end of the day, I am the creator. I create that art. I create its very perfection.

The piece of art is in the form of absolute perfection. As perfect as it can ever be, because I say so.

For a very long time I despised art and strongly believed that I couldn't do anything that came close to colouring materials. I was the kid who could never use the fat oil pastel crayons that left stains everywhere and paint within the lines.

I think art in school should never be graded, especially in its primary stage. Who died and made a naggy, cross-eyed, ancient woman god? Who entitled her to fail a piece of art by an 8-year-old that took two entire days to perfect? Who made her Mother Nature and decide that elephants shouldn't be magenta with green trunks and live by the sea?

It's almost as bad as telling me that there is actually a man inside Big Bird, dinosaurs aren't purple and Never-never Land doesn't exist.

But I love art. I love how I can decide where the light will shine. Or will there be light at all? Would it be black and white? Or would I want the world to have grey areas? I love creating textures and shadows, making my make-believe world come to life. I love deciding which colours to blend. I love deciding which hue of green i want. I love deciding whether the brown flecks in her eyes should be warmer to reflect her mood.

I love making sure that every peice of art i create has a twang. A subtle, yet very strong fuzzy twang that confirms every suspicion that the piece of art is mine.

I am its Creator.

:.for every last bruise you gave me, for everytime i sat in tears, for the million ways you hurt me... thank you.:
