I know I said I won't be blogging last night [and if you haven't read my post below, go freakin read it, lah] aside from posting the photos of the newborn kitties jeremy, my cousins and myself tried to save earlier in the week, but my weekly dose of internet reads [namely Fridae, MSN news, Popagandhi] has left me, as per usual, fuming.
After the hype about the cancellation of Snowball.04 and the legendary oh-so-responsible speech by Dr Balaji [read transcript here], who would have thought our lovely minister would try make more knots in his knickers. Of course, considering the fact that he is a part of the SG government, I shouldn't be anymore surprised.
Dr Balaji, btw, won a Just Shut Up award [view site here].
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, yes, he strikes again. [read speech transcript here]. In this speech, Dr Balaji was quoted saying the following about a so-called AIDS epidemic,
"Currently 90% of these newly diagnosed patients are males, with 1/3 being gays. We had a low prevalence rate of HIV in the past, even in the gay community. We do not know the reasons for the sharp increase of HIV in the gay community. An epidemiologist has suggested that this may be linked to the annual predominantly gay party in Sentosa - the Nation Party -which allowed gays from high prevalence societies to fraternize with local gay men, seeding the infection in the local community."
And I thought people on public transport were stupid. You know what Balaji, while you're at that, why don't you blame the SARS virus on gay men as well, maybe MSM [a term made popular by the man himself, I might say] brought about the virus. And bird flu! And global warming!

Hmmm. Fridae's having their first party in Bangkok, so say when Nation and Snowball goes to Bangkok and the AIDS cases rise anyway, he'll probably say the gay parties IN BANGKOK are the cause of the rise of AIDS cases in Singapore.
